Hoop Dreams

Poor Ehlo.  Gets killed in multiple languages.  The said thing about this shot was that Ehlo played hurt that game…and had a great game too.  Life is cruel sometimes.

So here’s my ‘The Shot’ story.  I was seven years old.  Watching the game with my best friend Tom and my family.  So distraught that the Cavs had just scored to take a one point lead with 3 seconds left, my friend Tom and I went outside to play instead of watching what we thought would be the last three seconds of the season.  I’ll never forget my dad’s words as we left: ‘Don’t go…you might regret it.’  Then as we had just made it up into the tree house in my back yard we heard screams of joy coming from inside my house.  Tom and I looked at each other in disbelief, flew down the slide from the tree house, and hauled ass as fast as we could back into the house.  There we saw my family high fiving as replays of ‘The Shot’ blared on the screen.  ’Dad’, I said. ’ I’ll never leave a game like that again.’
‘I bet,’ he replied.
